Music, Art and Drama
Our aim is to provide opportunities for children to discover and develop their creative skills through a range of arts subjects. Through weaving arts activities through our curriculum, we hope to inspire children to deepen their understanding of learning whilst engaging in activities that will help them to develop confidence and articulacy.
All children in key stages one and two receive music tuition from a specialist music teacher. They learn about the rudiments of music. Key Stage one learn to play the glockenspiel and Key Stage two the ukulele. In the summer term children come together with other local schools to perform in a large concert.
Singing is also a big part of our music curriculum with daily singing during worship plus many concerts which the children love to participate in throughout the year. Many of these have been for the parents, guardians and grandparents to also enjoy. These include The Harvest Festival, Carol Singing, Easter Service, Mother’s Day Service, end of year productions to name just a few! The children love putting on these productions, it helps the school unite and supports the children to grow in confidence.
Within the art curriculum at our school, we have carefully built upon core art skills and techniques from EYFS to LKS2. These consolidate children’s fine motor skills and allow them to develop as artists. The children are exposed to a variety of artists, sculptures, and designers to allow children to understand the development of art throughout history and to also study art and artists that had an impact on our local area. We hope that all children can leave with an appreciation and enjoyment of art.
